Essential Works directors

The directors of Essential Works are John Conway, Mal Peachey and Richard Belfield.

John Conway, Managing Director

John Conway, Managing DirectorPrior to his involvement with Essential Works, John worked in the film industry in Los Angeles, producing, and developing documentary and feature films. Between 1996 and 1998 he was also a director of That’s Entertainment, which undertook direct sales of entertainment software for such corporate clients as News International, Virgin Radio and EMAP Metro.

Mal Peachey, Publishing Director

Mal Peachey, Publishing DirectorPrior to forming Essential Works, Mal was the editorial director of Virgin Publishing (1993–1995) where he helped found Manchester United Books and developed their sports and non-music publishing strategy. Mal has extensive experience in the magazine and newspaper industry, having been arts editor of the Daily Express, music critic for the Mail on Sunday, editorial consultant for Haymarket Publishing and features editor for Vox magazine.

Richard Belfield, Director

Richard is a television producer/director, writer, playwright and a founding director of Essential Works. He is also a director of Fulcrum TV and has made programmes for every major British broadcaster as well as the Discovery Channel, National Geographic and the Smithsonian. His programmes have won awards on both sides of the Atlantic.
