In 1980 Adam and The Ants scored their first hit single with Dog Eat Dog. Adam went on to have sixteen Top Forty hit singles and eight hit albums, to make seventeen movies and star in a stage version of Joe Orton’s Entertaining Mr Sloane. His original and hugely entertaining videos for Stand & Deliver, Prince Charming, Puss ‘N Boots and Strip set new standards for pop videos and were all written and story-boarded by Adam. In September 2006 Macmillan publish Adam’s autobiography, titled Stand & Deliver. It is full, frank, entertaining and revealing, provoking laughter and tears in equal measure. The book tells the full story of his life, detailing his rise to fame, his music and acting career and his long struggle with bi-polar illness.
A 60-minute documentary based on the book is due to be screened in November 2006.
