Clara Salaman

Playwright, author and actor

Shoot the Messenger Osprey

Playwright, author and actor Clara Salaman is perhaps best known for her role as DS Stanton in TV’s The Bill for which she was nominated Best Actress in the National TV Awards. But she has also appeared in several other televison programmes, from A Touch of Frost to The Kingdom (with Stephen Fry, 2007), made several movies and appeared on stage in a series of leading roles. Clara has written a play for the National Theatre and screenplays for Granda TV and an independent film production company. Now, with Shoot The Messenger Clara makes a startlingly original and rivetting debut as a writer of fiction. Her first novel, it is set at a stately house in England as an opera company prepares for the opening night of their outdoor extravanganza. The story, like the opera which forms the backdrop to it, involves love, sex, death, lies and a kind of redemption.
